-Staff reports-

Floyd County Schools will implement a two-hour delay on Wednesday, January 17. School will begin at 10 a.m. All FCS employees should report by 9 a.m. Please note, that this will be a two-hour delay with a two-hour shift in the normal schedule. If you normally drop your child off at 7:15, you may drop them off at 9:15 tomorrow morning. If the bus normally picks your child up at 6:45, it will pick up your child at 8:45.

Morning CCA classes are canceled. All morning CCA students can report to their home school at their scheduled time when CCA classes would normally end. However, if students normally ride the bus to school in the mornings, they will report to their home school when the bus picks them up and wait there until their scheduled classes begin.

Rome City Schools will have a two-hour delayed start on Wednesday. This means all bus routes, school openings, and start times will be shifted forward two hours from the regularly scheduled times. For example, a 7:00 AM bus pickup will now be a 9:00 AM pickup, etc. All elementary staff will report at 9:15 AM. All middle school and high school staff will report at 10:00 AM. No breakfast will be served and lunches will be served at regular times. There will be no changes to the dismissal procedures. Please use caution when driving and walking to school.

Gordon County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Wednesday due to the Wind Chill Advisory in our area.

Please adjust your child’s morning drop-off time by two hours. Buses will also operate on a two-hour delay behind their usual route times.

Calhoun City Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, January 17.

Again, this is a two-hour delay from the normal schedule. If you normally drop your child off at 7:30, you may drop them off at 9:30 tomorrow morning. If the bus normally picks your child up at 6:30, it will pick up your child at 8:30.

Bartow County, Cartersville City, Chattooga County, and Cherokee County, Alabama Schools will also delay starting by two hours on Wednesday.

In an abundance of caution, all Georgia Highlands College locations will open at 10 AM on Wednesday. All classes before 10 AM are canceled.

Polk School District will maintain a regular schedule on Wednesday. Please be aware of the single-digit temperatures forecasted for tomorrow and ensure your student is prepared for these conditions.

Polk County parents can download the Here Come The Bus app which provides up-to-the-minute information regarding bus arrival times. This will help limit your child’s exposure to the cold temperatures expected Wednesday morning.
