Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) has named Jake Broome associate vice president of Administrative Services.

“Jake has more than 13 years of experience in higher education finance for the State of Georgia before coming to GNTC,” said Kelly Barnes, vice president of Administrative Services at GNTC. “He brings a wealth of knowledge from his previous positions, progressing through his career from accountant to assistant controller, and is able to draw on this knowledge as associate vice president of Administrative Services. He is a valuable addition to GNTC’s Business Office and is already taking a leadership role.”

His responsibilities include preparation and oversight of the financial, budget, purchasing, and administrative operations at GNTC; directing the acquisition, tagging, and surplus disposal processes of the college’s asset inventory; overseeing student accounts; and overseeing the administration and maintenance of the college’s vehicle fleet.

“I am proud to be a part of the GNTC team and have confidence in the college’s leadership,” Broome said. “I have lived in this area all my life, and I know how important GNTC is to our community.”

His previous experience in higher education includes serving as a financial reporting analyst for the University System of Georgia, controller for Georgia Highlands College, and director of Accounting for Chattahoochee Technical College. Earlier roles include assistant controller, compliance and reporting manager, and senior accounting manager at Georgia Highlands College, as well as accountant at Chattahoochee Technical College.

“I look forward to the opportunity to continue to learn and improve and hopefully make a positive impact,” Broome said.

Broome earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of West Georgia and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Accounting at Shorter University.
