The Floyd County Commission has approved a resolution regarding the issuance of revenue bonds through the Development Authority of Floyd for Lavender Mountain Health for the Spires at Berry College project.
“This is an amount not to exceed $100 million, potentially for refinancing, as well as additional units at the Spires,” said Floyd County Manager Jamie McCord. “The Board of Commissioners constitutes the highest elected legislative body of the jurisdiction, and the resolution is intended to constitute the approval required by section 1472 of the IRS code of 1986. A public hearing was held on October 17, which is also a requirement. There is no financial liability whatsoever for Floyd County or The Development Authority of Fort Floyd County.”
Lavender Mountain Senior Living will be the principal user and operator of the project.
This is sort of a renewal of what the commissioners did back in 2018 when the Spires Project was initially being started,” said Floyd County Attorney Chris Jackson. “What is being asked of you is to merely say ‘hey look, we’re OK’ with the development authority being a conduit so that funds can be issued to the Lavender Mountain Senior Living group for the purposes that Mr. McCord set forward.”
Also on Tuesday, the commission approved a zoning request for 591 Ward Mountain Road and 0 Ward Mountain Road.
The applicant asked to resume the property from Suburban-Residential to Agricultural-Residential.
