The Family Resource Center is excited to share that local families now have access to Lantern, a free digital parenting support platform designed to empower parents and caregivers with trusted, easy-to-use guidance that supports their children’s growth and development from birth through early childhood.
Each week, parents and caregivers receive short videos, articles, and activity ideas directly on their phone, helping them feel confident and supported as their child grows to the pre-teen years.
Texts provide a variety of tools, highlighting everything from behavior and social-emotional skills to sharing family recipes, tips on routines, and preparing for school.
To enroll, simply text BRIGHT to 274 448.
Once enrolled, subscribers will be prompted to answer a few basic questions to help the program send support appropriate to their child’s developmental stage.
Lantern messaging is available in English and Spanish and is evidence-informed and developed by early childhood experts.
Families who sign up locally will also receive one supplementary text message per month from the Family Resource Center connecting them to nearby programs, events, and resources, adding an extra layer of support right here in our community.
“We’re excited to help bring Lantern to our community and to offer families in our area an added layer of personal connection,” said Tina Bartleson, Executive Director of the Family Resource Center. “Parents can get high-quality parenting tips from experts and also stay in touch with what’s happening locally. It’s the best of both worlds.”
The Family Resource Center is a nonprofit agency that provides transformative in-home education and support to Floyd and Polk County families with children up to age 12, empowering them to create safe, stable, and nurturing homes so that their children can grow and thrive.
Their services include the evidence-based Exchange Parent Aide home visitation program, parent education seminars, the Georgia DPH First Steps Program for families with children ages 0-5, and the partnership with Lantern, made possible by a grant from Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center and the Atrium Health Floyd-Polk Foundation.
