Man charged with fleeing, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

A 49-year-old West Rome man was arrested after allegedly fleeing from police.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Ronald Mitchell activated his turn signal as if he was going to stop, but instead ran a red light and crossed the intersection of North Avenue and Wolf Drive while speeding up.

He passed a vehicle in front of him, crossing the double yellow line at a high rate of speed in a residential area.

Mitchell then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

A 9mm handgun and marijuana were found in the vehicle.

Mitchell is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, too fast for conditions, improper passing, and failure to obey a traffic control device.

Lindale woman arrested following execution of search warrant

The Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force executed a search warrant at a home on Booze Mountain Road and arrested a Lindale woman on drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

47-year-old Maggie Beth Stansell was found with methamphetamine and a digital scale with residue.

She is charged with possession of meth and possession of drug-related objects.

Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

A traffic stop for speeding on the Southwest Bypass at Horseleg Creek Road ended with the arrest of a West Rome man on drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

A vehicle driven by 65-year-old Floyd Lee Leveston was clocked going 70 in a 60 zone.

The state trooper noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A THC vape was located in Leveston’s pocket.

He is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, DUI, and speeding.

Woman arrested for meth possession

A Cedartown woman was arrested at Baker Street and Todd Street in Shannon on drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

37-year-old Jessica Aileen Warren was found with a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine in a container next to a glass bulb pipe.

She also had buspirone hydrochloride in an unlabed pill bottle.

Warren is charged with possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects, and possession of drugs not in the original container.

Passenger in vehicle arrested during traffic stop

A passenger in a vehicle stopped for an expired tag on North Broad Street on October 28 is facing drug charges.

According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:

47-year-old Chasity Starr Robinson of Rome refused to exit the vehicle when ordered to do so, and was taken into custody.

During a search of the vehicle following a K9 indication, alprazolam was located in her purse.

Robinson is charged with possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of drugs not in the original container, and misdemeanor obstruction.
