The City of Rome celebrated renovations to Banty Jones Park on Friday morning with a ribbon-cutting.
The updated park features a splash pad as its centerpiece, along with a small amphitheater, modern playgrounds, pavilions, new signage, a boardwalk, new restrooms, and a designated area for food trucks.
The project was funded through a Choice Neighborhood Planning Grant from the Northwest Georgia Housing Authority, Community Development Block Grant funds, and local and state American Rescue Plan dollars.
Banty Jones’ grandchildren attended the event to honor his legacy, and Triscia Jones Watts delivered remarks on behalf of the family.
