Blood Assurance is teaming up with the Floyd County Police Department for a blood drive on Thursday.
Area residents can donate from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at one of two locations, according to Mike Bell with the Floyd County Police Department.
“I still call it our new headquarters–we’ve been there for a year now—but we will be set up at what used to be the old Glenwood School campus,” he said. “We’ve also decided to add an additional location—same as what we used to be—the former law enforcement center, where the tax office is now. They will be set up there, because I think we can generate more walk-up traffic at that location.”
If you donate locally, you help save lives locally.
Blood Assurance is the provider of blood and blood products to Atrium Health Floyd and AdventHealth Redmond.
“25 percent of all of our blood goes to cancer patients every day,” said Tara Nicholson with Blood Assurance. “We also need the blood for traumas and for patients having surgery. We also have a huge need for sickle cell patients. They need blood on a regular basis.”
All donors who give blood will receive a $25 e-gift card.
If you plan on giving blood, eat a good meal, avoid energy drinks, drink plenty of water, and bring your ID.
