Meeting to update the community on Battey Business Business Complex on October 12

The public is invited to an update meeting regarding a federal grant for the cleanup of the former Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital property next month.

The Rome Floyd County Development Authority received a United States Environmental Protection Agency Brownfields Cleanup Grant in 2024 to address asbestos-containing materials, lead-contaminated soil, and other hazardous materials at the Battey Business Complex.

A HUD grant was also obtained to fund building demolition.

The planned cleanup and building demolition will begin on or about October 27.

The meeting will provide a review of the goals and logistics associated with the project and will include brief presentations by the design engineer and the selected contractor.

The meeting will be on October 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the development authority office at 800 Broad Street, Suite 102.

The meeting will also be streamed via Microsoft Teams.
