Rome City Commissioners are expected to discuss a data center moratorium on Monday.
The discussion is on the agenda for the commission’s pre-meeting caucus, which begins at 5 p.m. in the Sam King Room at Rome City Hall.
In June, the Floyd County Commission approved it own moratorium, which expired when new local ordinances were approved last month.
Currently, the only proposed data center projects are a Microsoft data center in the area of Huffaker Road and Fouche Gap, one behind Coosa Middle School, and one at the old Ball site in Shannon—All are in the county.
The one data center proposed in the city limits was at the Battey Business Complex off Division Street in West Rome, but that project fell through.
During the regular meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m. in the second-floor meeting room, the commission will conduct a public hearing regarding a Special Use Permit for an Independent Sober Living Home at 4 East 9th Street.
Public hearings for a rezoning request and special use permit for a manufactured home at 20 Ford Street, and a rezoning request from Multi-family to Suburban Residential for 63 Old Lindale Road are also on the agenda.
