North Carolina woman accused of stealing from an Armuchee woman and her deceased father
A woman from Charlotte, North Carolina, was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Saturday on felony warrants charging her with identity fraud, computer theft, and theft by taking.
According to the warrants:
26-year-old Jurmani Yi Niqkue Mahogenhi Bonner-Robinson used the identifying information of an Armuchee woman and the woman’s deceased father to access a joint account and take money from it between May and October of last year.
She then used the money to make four car payments, totaling $3,169.32.
Bonner-Robinson also attempted to make two other payments totaling $1,584.66.
She accessed the account 18 times, totaling $5,820.11, between April and October of last year, also using the funds to pay for rent and storage unit rental.
Man charged with aggravated stalking, possession of drugs at jail
A North Rome man is facing multiple charges following his arrest over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
57-year-old Robert Vernon Lofton went to a woman’s apartment on North Avenue and pushed the victim inside and onto a couch.
The woman had an active protection order against Lofton, who was reluctant to be searched by law enforcement.
Once at the jail, he was found with suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl, phentermine, gabapentin, and marijuana.
Lofton is charged with aggravated stalking, simple battery, possession of meth, possession of fentanyl, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drugs not in the original container, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of drugs past the guard line at the jail, and a probation violation.
Man charged with burglary
A Garden Lakes man was jailed over the weekend on a 2nd-degree burglary charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
62-year-old Brian Russell Powell entered and remained inside a commercial building at 2411 Garden Lakes Boulevard with the intent to commit a felony.
Once at the jail, Powell was found with suspected methamphetamine in his pocket.
He is also charged with possession of meth and possession of drugs past the guard line at the jail.
Report: 17-year-old found with THC vapes, pistol
A North Rome man was arrested during a traffic stop on the connector at Kingston Highway.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
17-year-old Daejohn Kenterrrious Burdette was in possession of three vapes with 94 percent THC content while in the company of a 16-year-old juvenile.
Burdette was also found with a pistol.
He is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a pistol by someone under the age of 18.
Man facing drug charges
A Rome man has been arrested on drug charges.
According to the arrest warrants:
During the execution of a search warrant on Holly Street, six grams of crack cocaine and 46 grams of marijuana were located in the kitchen area of the residence, along with several identifying documents belonging to 45-year-old Steven Edward Smith.
Smith is charged with possession of cocaine and felony possession of marijuana.
Man accused of having cocaine at jail
A homeless man arrested over the weekend on Brookwood Avenue is accused of having drugs at the jail.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Jail staff found a small bag of suspected cocaine when they searched 46-year-old Cesar Anibal Geronimo Mejia.
Mejia is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of drugs past the guard line at the jail, and failure to appear.
Report: Man stole three pairs of eyeglasses
A Rockmart man was booked into the Floyd County Jail over the weekend on a felony theft by shoplifting charge.
According to the arrest warrants:
64-year-old Anthony Dean Burge Sr. entered the vision center at the West Rome Walmart and took three pairs of glasses without paying for them.
The eyeglasses were valued at a combined $552.
Man charged with being a fugitive from justice
An Armuchee man was jailed following a traffic stop.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by 37-year-old Jesus Guillermo Sanchez was stopped for running a red light at Redmond Circle and Lavender Drive.
It was then discovered that he had been charged with a crime in another state.
Sanchez is charged with being a fugitive from justice, driving without a valid license, and a probation violation.
