-Berry College News Release-
Forbes magazine has named Berry College to America’s Top 500 Colleges for 2027.
The magazine’s annual list showcases the top 500 colleges that produce successful, high-earning and influential graduates from all economic backgrounds with less student debt. These rankings focus not on a college’s reputation but instead focus on students’ success post-graduation.
In other words, what sort of return do students get from their investment of time and money? In more recent years, Forbes started giving extra credit to schools that produce strong outcomes for all students, including those from families with lower incomes.
“Berry College has consistently ranked among the top colleges and universities, and we are excited that Forbes has again recognized that. Our alumni take their integrated education of the head, heart and hands with them to improve the communities in which they live, work and serve,” said Berry President Sandeep Mazumder.
The average Berry College aid is $31,615, median student debt is $18,900, and the median 10-year salary for alums is $96,753, according to Forbes.
This year’s list began with the roughly 2,600 four-year universities and colleges in the United States. Using the government-run Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), which gathers data from every U.S. college and university, Forbes narrowed the list down to around 1,600 public and not-for-profit schools for undergraduates, including baccalaureate colleges, master’s universities and colleges and doctoral universities, as well as specialized institutions focused on fields such as engineering, business and the arts.
Colleges were evaluated on alumni salaries (20%), student debt (15%), graduation rate (15%), return on investment (15%), retention rate (10%), and academic success (10%), which included students who won Fulbright, Truman, Goldwater, and Rhodes scholarships.
Forbes also weighs colleges on alumni who appear on its “American Leaders List,” which consists of Forbes 30 Under 30, Forbes 400, Richest Self-Made Women and Most Powerful Women lists. Also included are alumni who are members of the President’s Cabinet, the Supreme Court, Congress, and governors, as well as the most recent winners of the MacArthur Fellowship, Nobel Prize, Breakthrough Prize, Lasker Prize, Fields Prize, Academy Awards, Tony Awards, NAACP Awards, Guggenheim Fellowship, Presidential Medals and Pulitzer Prizes.
