Man accused of using someone else’s name to sign a legal document
A West Rome man was arrested at his Burnett Ferry Road home on Wednesday on a felony warrant charging him with identity theft fraud.
According to the warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
During a traffic stop on Garden Lakes Boulevard at Elliott Drive on March 3, 59-year-old Terry Dwayne Burgess provided another man’s identifying information to police and signed a traffic citation using the victim’s name.
Then, on April 6, he used the victim’s name once again to sign a City of Rome Municipal Court legal document.
Burgess is additionally charged with 1st-degree forgery, false statements and writings, giving a false name or date of birth to law enforcement, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and failure to obey a traffic control device.
Two facing drug charges
A Rome man and a homeless woman were arrested on drug charges at North Second Avenue and John Davenport Drive on Wednesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
71-year-old Danny William Ray and 32-year-old Victoria Elexis Henzy Barr were found with suspected methamphetamine and marijuana.
Both are charged with possession of meth and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
