Friday afternoon saw the lawn in front of the former joint law enforcement center in downtown Rome filled with candy, costumes, and contests.
Just across the street from the courthouse at the former joint law enforcement center, the “Treats not Streets” event took place. With tents put up on the lawn and attendees in a slew of different costumes.
With families dressed in different costumes, children trick or treated around the different tents, as each tent was attempting to win a prize as the best tent at the event. While every tent had candy, some had small games, themes (such as an alien themed tent), or even a goat for trick or treaters to pet.
The tents at the event represented different organizations affiliated with public safety. Such as 911, Rome City Police, Floyd County Police, Rome Floyd Fire Department, Rome City Schools, Atrium Floyd EMS, and more. Midway through the event a costume contest was held. Children at the event gathered in the center of the plaza to have their costumes judged.
