As northwest Georgia’s largest and longest-serving cancer care providers, Atrium Health Floyd + Harbin Clinic brings years of experience and collaboration to every patient’s care. For the 24th year, that expertise in the fight against breast cancer was illustrated Friday at Truett’s Chick-fil-A in Rome during National Mammography Day.
Even before the sun rose, the restaurant was bustling with patrons looking for Atrium Health Floyd’s iconic Paper Doll magnets that often find a landing place on vehicles and refrigerators throughout northwest Georgia during the campaign to “Say Know to Breast Cancer.”
Education and mammogram opportunities will take place throughout October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Breast Center at Atrium Health Floyd opened in 2008, setting the standard for providing quality screening diagnostics in a timely manner.
Sandra Peppers drove all the way from Summerville to enjoy breakfast. She said she usually comes every year and makes a point of getting a mammogram every year.
Carmen Jones, retired principal from Pepperell Primary School, was also present. She has been a faithful attendee of the event, now in its 24th year.
“I come every year, and a good number of teachers from the school usually make it an annual journey,” Jones said. She was sitting with Gwen Carney, who recently retired. Carney is a breast cancer survivor.
Understanding that knowledge is power, breast health educators also attended Friday’s event to provide lifesaving information.
A Hispanic Heritage Community Health Fair is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 11, at The Well at West Rome Baptist Church in Rome, 900 Shorter Ave NW. That event will include breast health information.
