Man arrested for having a stolen firearm

A West Rome man was arrested on Burnett Ferry Road on Tuesday on charges of theft by receiving stolen property and theft by deception.

According to Floyd County Jail records and an arrest warrant:

28-year old Ja’Korrius Marquel Clark had knowledge that a check for more than $5,000 had been fraudulently deposited into his personal bank account.

He was found with a small amount of marijuana and gave police a false name and date of birth.

During a search of Clark’s vehicle, police located a firearm that had been reported stolen.

It was also discovered that Clark was wanted on an arrest warrant in another state.

Clark is additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, giving a false name or date of birth to law enforcement, being a fugitive from justice, failure to appear, and a probation violation.

Alabama man charged in domestic violence incident

A man from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, has been returned to Floyd County to face multiple charges.

According to the arrest warrants:

27-year-old Christian Trey Johnson kicked the headlight of a 2013 Audi A4, causing more than $1,900 in damage at a location on Martha Berry Highway on March 29.

He also texted a woman 36 times and called her another 21 times, threatening any current intimate partners and threatening to kill her if she did not meet him.

When the victim and Johnson were in the same vehicle, he grabbed her head and pushed it into the steering wheel twice and struck her in the side of the face.

Johnson took the woman’s keys and phone, pushed her, and slapped her.

Johnson is charged with 2nd-degree criminal damage to property, simple assault, battery, reckless conduct, harassing communications, stalking, and criminal trespass.

Warrant: Woman paid for sporting goods with counterfeit money

A Riverdale woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Tuesday on a felony count of 1st-degree forgery and a misdemeanor count of theft by deception.

According to the arrest warrants:

19-year-old Janasia Latia Hillary Sanders gave a cashier 13 counterfeit $20 bills to pay for $246.10 in merchandise at Hibbett’s Sports on Turner McCall Boulevard back on May 20.

She then received $13.90 in change.

Woman facing drug charges

A homeless woman was arrested Tuesday on North Fifth Avenue on felony and misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

42-year-old Utica Shantell Jones had marijuana concealed in a grinder, a vape containing high-concentrate THC, and a glass smoking device.

Jones is also charged with two counts of possession of drug-related objects and three counts of failure to appear.
