Body found behind Broad Street business, no foul play suspected

Rome Police confirmed that the body of a woman was discovered on Tuesday morning between the Cotton Block and Bridgepoint Plaza downtown.

The following information was released Tuesday afternoon by Rome Police Public Information Officer, Kelly Madden:

“On October 28, 2025, at 8:20 a.m., Rome Police Department officers and Rome-Floyd Fire/EMS personnel responded to a call regarding an unresponsive female located behind a business near the 0 block of Broad Street.

First responders located a 29-year-old female at the scene. Emergency medical personnel initiated aid; however, the individual was later pronounced deceased on scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates the female had recently walked to the location where she was found. At this time, there is no evidence of foul play, and the death does not appear suspicious.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Coroner’s Office has taken the body to the GBI Crime Lab.

The identity of the deceased female is being withheld pending notification of family, and further information will be released as available and appropriate.”
