Effective immediately, Floyd County Public Works is closing Bells Ferry Road at the Woodward Creek Bridge due to excessive wear.
Inspectors will continue to evaluate, and we could reopen soon with a reduced load capacity.
The Floyd County School Board has been notified, since this is a bus route.
Local road detours will include Minshew Road and Gaines Road to the north and West Hermitage Road to the south.
The bridge has already been approved for replacement with the Georgia Department of Transportation as part of the State’s Local Bridge Replacement Program; the project is currently scheduled to be let next month.
