Report: Man pointed gun at another man’s head

An Armuchee man was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Sunday on a felony count of aggravated assault.

According to jail records:

20-year-old Evan Jacob Stratton pointed a firearm at another man’s head.

The incident occurred on November 6 at a location on Mark Street.

Report: Man kicked police

A 27-year-old West Rome man is facing a felony count of obstruction of law enforcement following his arrest over the weekend.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Marcus Lee Brown resisted and fought with the police, kicking them in the chest.

Brown, who was also found with a gun, is additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

New York man charged with identity fraud, exploitation of the elderly

A man from Brooklyn, New York, is facing charges in Floyd County dating back to last year.

According to the arrest warrants:

48-year-old Joshua Lee Santiago used the identifying information of a man over the age of 65 to withdraw $5,000 from the man’s bank account.

He also called a local credit union, identified himself as the victim, and attempted to obtain information.

Santiago made the withdrawal using a Georgia identification card with the victim’s name on it.

Santiago is charged with identity fraud and exploitation of the elderly.

Man charged with meth possession

A homeless man was arrested over the weekend on Russell Drive for possession of methamphetamine.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Officers were serving a warrant at a residence when 38-year-old Steven Ashley Storey walked out from a wooded area and was asked to identify himself, due to his resemblance to the person the authorities were looking for.

Storey gave his name and stated that he had an active probation warrant.

Suspected methamphetamine was then located in his pants pocket.

Man charged with illegal burning

An Armuchee man is facing misdemeanor charges in connection with a fire on Russell Drive back on November 4.

According to the warrant and Floyd County Jail records:

37-year-old Corey Wayne Meers started a fire in his yard and then left it unattended, putting other properties at risk.

The fire department responded to the residence to talk to Meers, but he was not there.

Meers has a history of illegal burns, including one in April, five in June, and three in October.

He is charged with reckless conduct and burning without a permit.
