Saturday morning the community gathered at the Home Depot parking lot on Hicks Drive to donate Christmas trees for the 2024 “Bring One for the Chipper” event.

Organized by Keep Rome Floyd Beautiful, the eco-friendly event serves to repurpose the donated Christmas trees to create underwater habitats for local aquatic life.

Keep Rome Floyd Beautiful Program Coordinator Hannah Bagley and other volunteers accepted the donated trees and in return gave away white oak and redbud tree seedlings.

The event was co-sponsored by the City of Rome Tree Board, Georgia Tree Council, and the Georgia Forestry Commission.
