Warrant: Man accepted money for work he never completed

A Silver Creek man has been jailed on a felony warrant charging him with theft by taking.

According to the warrant:

40-year-old Garland Eugene Johnson was hired to complete work on the victim’s property earlier this year and was given a check for $2,209 to purchase materials for the job.

He never delivered the materials and has not completed any of the work for which he was contracted to perform.

Woman charged with aggravated animal cruelty

A Rome woman has been arrested on 10 counts of cruelty to animals and three counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

63-year-old Dena Marie Jacobs failed to provide adequate food, water, sanitary conditions, ventilation, and veterinary care, resulting in the death of two cats.

A third cat was found emaciated at the home on Wayside Road.

Inmate accused of cutting another man at the jail

A Silver Creek man arrested on an aggravated assault charge Saturday after he allegedly pointed a firearm at another man and pulled the trigger at a home on Wax Road is facing additional charges following an incident Monday at the Floyd County Jail.

According to jail records:

66-year-old John Timothy Dobson cut the victim’s face with a sharp object.

He is charged with battery and unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution.
