Man accused of using financial transaction cards belonging to elderly victims

A Centre, Alabama man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Tuesday on two counts of exploitation of the elderly and two counts of the unauthorized use of a financial transaction card.

According to the arrest warrants:

48-year-old Truitt Clifford Alford III made more than $2,200 in purchases between October 15, 2023, and January 8, 2024, using the first victim’s financial transaction card.

He then used the second victim’s card to make almost $529 in purchases.

The victims are 91 and 87 years old.

Alford taunted one of the victims by telling her that she could do nothing about him using the cards, according to one of the warrants.

Man facing drug charges

A 53-year-old Rome man was arrested Tuesday on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

According to the arrest warrants:

Richard Jody Trapp, of a Radio Springs Road address, was found with meth and a small amount of marijuana on Monday while at Atrium Health Floyd on Turner McCall Boulevard.

Report: Calhoun man arrested during traffic stop in Rome

A Calhoun man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Tuesday following a traffic stop on Redmond Circle at Addington Drive in Rome.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

41-year-old Adam Lamar Ely was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for a window tint violation.

Following a K9 indication, Ely was searched and methamphetamine was found in his right pants leg.
