Cedartown teen wanted for armed robbery in Alabama shot in North Rome

-Rome Police Department report-

Rome Police are investigating a shooting early Wednesday morning in the 400 block of Calhoun Avenue in North Rome.

According to the incident report:

An officer was dispatched to the emergency room at AdventHealth Redmond in reference to a gunshot victim.

17-year-old Tyrel Deshun Spencer Jr. of Cedartown had been shot in the left forearm and right hand, where the bullet had lodged and splintered the bone.

Spencer initially provided a false name and later told police that he lied about his identity because he didn’t want to be in their system.

It was later discovered that Spencer was wanted on a warrant for armed robbery in Jefferson County, Alabama, and was also listed as a juvenile runaway.

Seven 9mm shell casings were recovered from the scene of the shooting.
